Anna Allmann, PhD
Dr. Allmann graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri with her undergraduate degree in psychology and received her PhD in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University, one of the top ten programs in the nation. She then obtained specialty postdoctoral training in the treatment of OCD and its common co-occurring disorders at Harvard Medical School’s McLean Hospital (OCD Institute). More recently, Dr. Allmann worked as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, where alongside valued colleagues, she spearheaded the launch of Columbia’s Anxiety Day Program, which provides intensive and accelerated care for adolescents with severe anxiety, OCD, or school avoidance. She also is a founding member of CopeColumbia, an effort to maintain the wellbeing of Columbia Medical Center’s health care workers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Allmann uses evidence based treatments such as exposure and response prevention (ERP/EX/RP), prolonged exposure (PE), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to treat a variety of anxiety and mood based syndromes. She has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed research articles on parenting, OCD, depression, COVID impacts, and the development and trajectory of mental health over the lifespan. Dr. Allmann loves to supervise and teach the next generation of therapists and to that end, she has taught several clinical workshops spanning topics such as parenting, anxiety in schools, and clinical best practices.
Dr. Allmann uses these experiences to leverage change in the lives of those who connect with her through her private practice.
