Individual therapy

For many individuals, weekly 45 minute sessions are appropriate. Most individual therapy is targeted, goal-oriented, and time limited; however, longer term supportive therapy is sometimes also available.

Initial Assessments: In order to tailor treatment to your needs or the needs of your child, a thorough initial assessment is conducted using evidence based semi-structured interviews and scales. Initial assessments for adults are typically 90 minutes (although a basic 60 min intake is also possible for milder symptoms), and for adolescents, they are split between two 60 minute sessions, one with the parent/s, and one with the child (or one longer session with both). The initial assessment is an opportunity to assess the goodness of fit between the client’s needs and symptoms and the types of treatment offered. Referrals will be made if, based on the assessment, we are not an optimal fit.

Intensive OCD or anxiety treatment

For some individuals it is helpful to accelerate treatment by meeting more frequently or for longer durations. These decisions will be made collaboratively based on symptom presentation. Intensive treatments are available for OCD, PTSD, specific phobias, or school avoidance. Meetings may be 2-3 times per week. Occasionally, it is appropriate to meet in person for exposure sessions in the home or in the community. These sessions are priced based on length of the session and prorated for driving time depending on your location. There is no fee associated with meeting locally in Rye or Rye Brook.

Couples therapy

If you’re experiencing discord in your romantic relationship, you and your partner may benefit from weekly therapy targeting maladaptive cycles in the relationship and building positive interactions. Some couples also choose to come to therapy to strengthen their relationship when it is going well. Others need help healing from specific events in the relationship. Just as in individual therapy, weekly 45-60-minute sessions are typically appropriate, but can be tailored to your needs.

Family/parent coaching

If your child is experiencing difficulty, parenting and family sessions can assist in supporting your and your child’s wellbeing. These sessions will provide parents specific evidence based tools to improve the parent-child relationship and the child’s functioning. These meetings are part of many treatment plans for adolescent clients. These sessions can be weekly, every other week, or as needed.

Consultations or Talks

Professional consultations/supervision: Occasionally, colleagues or early career psychologists seek professional consultations or supervision of challenging cases or cases outside of their personal expertise. These consults can be ongoing or time limited.

Workshops, talks, consults, and guest speaker appearances for corporations, schools, community groups, and universities: Schools, private practices, corporations, community centers, and academic organizations or universities may request talks on specific topics. Many organizations are aiming to support employee wellbeing and prevent burnout following the challenges associated with COVID. Similarly, schools are struggling to support students’ return to the classroom. In these cases, a tailored consult, workshop, or talk can benefit your organization. Previous topics include managing anxiety in school, integrating ACT and ERP to optimize treatment outcomes, supporting employee wellbeing during COVID, reducing school avoidance, preventing health care worker burnout, improving leadership skills and employee satisfaction, and more.

CBT, ERP, and ACT workshops/didactics can also be provided for your private practice or early career therapists on your team.
